Hi and happy Feel-Good Monday!

This is where we share our favorite tips, tricks, secrets, and ways to "think like a healthy person" so that you can find your own delicious path to healthy living.

"Feel-Good Mondays" are meant to help us get back into that place of feeling energized, nourished, and ready to take inspired action for the week ahead.

I just came back from 10 luxurious, indulgent, delicious days traveling around California. A dear friend of mine was getting married in Sonoma, and I was asked to officiate the wedding, so we kicked off our travels in wine country and continued to make our way down through the gorgeous state over the next week.

And what a week we had! Matt and I had many visits (and tastings) at beautiful wineries, more pit stops at farmers markets than I could count, espresso-sipping at adorable coffee shops, and many delicious meals shared with friends, family, and each other.

Contrary to what many people may assume about me, I don't live in a health-food-bubble.

Here I am deciding which flavor I like better: Dulce de leche or salted peanut butter. The verdict is still out…cause they were both pretty freakin' amazing.

One big health tenant that I live by, and that we encourage our clients to follow, is the importance of making time for indulgence.

I am talking about conscious, mindful indulgence. I'm not talking about just grabbing a donut from the conference room because it's sitting there and you're bored. But rather, I'm referring to delicious indulgence that is intentional. Without guilt, without punishment. And with lots of pleasure!

I avoid gluten and dairy most of the time, simply because I feel much better off of those foods (dairy makes me congested; gluten gives me brain fog). And in all honesty, avoiding those foods isn't hard for me at all, at this point in my life, because I've discovered amazing alternatives that I love and that taste great, are super healthy, and make me feel fantastic.

But I also deeply savor the moments when I make a mindful choice to indulge in something "off plan".

When our foodie friend told us that we HAD to try the ice cream at the restaurant Glen Ellen Star because it was the best she had ever had in her life, I had to save room for dessert. And when I had a once-in-a-lifetime meal at Chez Panisse, I wasn't going to miss trying their sourdough bread. Slathered in butter.

By not feeling like those foods were off-limits, I can make the conscious choice to choose to eat them when it feels right – as opposed to an "all or nothing" approach that I used to take.

A life of restriction is no fun. I know, because I've been there. Back when I weighed almost 50 lbs more, ironically, I had never felt more restricted in my life. I went from diet to diet, always bouncing between a state of restriction or all-out-indulging. There wasn't a happy medium for me back then. And I carried an extra 50 lbs as a result.

We work with our clients to help you find your natural balance and rhythm when it comes to finding the structure, freedom, and balance that works best for your lifestyle and your diet. Because that's so much more FUN than feeling like you're locked in a diet prison! 😉
