About Moss Wellness

We practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that we will look at how all of the areas of your life are connected.

Working on the principle of bio-individuality, the Moss Wellness team will support you in making positive changes that are based on your unique lifestyle, personal preferences, and body type. Instead of prescribing one fix for all people, we use a personalized, holistic approach that is based on your specific needs.

The foundation of your program is based on support, accountability, and encouragement to help you reach your goals. Each session with your nutrition coach builds upon the next, building your confidence, knowledge, and understanding of what creates good health for you. Together, we’ll work with you to achieve your goals in areas such as weight management, food cravings, fuel for athletic training, sleep, digestive wellness, and energy. You will develop a deeper understanding of the foods and lifestyle choices that work best for you, and you will be able to implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? Food changes everything. As your daily diet changes, your body changes and your happiness improves. You deserve to wake up every day feeling vibrant, awake, balanced, and nourished!

We offer many of our coaching services by phone, which means that you can conveniently work on your health and wellness goals from the comfort of your own home or office.

About the Founder

I was tired of torturing myself through miserable diets. I was tired of losing the same 5-10 lbs only to regain them the minute I stopped depriving myself.

I used to be almost 50 lbs heavier, obsessed with food, stagnant in my career and relationships, and moody a great deal of the time. Even though life was technically “good,” I still didn’t feel personally fulfilled or very inspired. Although I had various fun and exciting jobs in media throughout the years (I worked in advertising, I was a food & travel writer, and I was an associate producer for a national television news show), I realized that lifestyle had left me worn out, without much passion, cranky, and hungry for a career, way of living, and way of eating that would feed my mind, body, and spirit!

I set out on a path of self-work and self-discovery. While I was trying to lose weight and improve my health, I was overwhelmed by the incredible amount of confusing messages out there: low-carb, low-fat, paleo diet, vegan, raw food diet, Mediterranean diet, cabbage soup diet, weight loss programs, juice cleanses, no snacking between meals, 5 mini-meals per day, etc.

We have been conditioned to think that if we just discover the next best diet, supplement, or health book, all of our health/weight/emotional problems will be solved! But this way of thinking overlooks the deepest issue of all:  You are UNIQUE.  You are a beautiful, incredibly complex human being with unique needs, desires, and innate responses. What I discovered on my wellness journey is that many of the usual approaches to weight loss, health, and healing are outdated. Anyone who has ever been on a diet can tell you that diets don’t work long-term.

I wanted to find a better way.

I was tired of torturing myself through miserable diets. I was tired of losing the same 5-10 lbs only to regain them the minute I stopped depriving myself. I wanted to actually feel better. To think more clearly. I wanted to actually enjoy exercise. I wanted to be happy, to feel balanced and engaged, and to have FUN!

I gave up dieting (gasp! it was terrifying). I became a certified holistic nutrition coach through Columbia University’s Teachers College, in partnership with The Institute of Integrative Nutrition. I studied directly with Dr Annemarie Colbin in her intensive 9-month Food Therapy program, at the Natural Gourmet Institute, learning how to use food as natural medicine.

What I discovered was that the biggest secret of all is that there is no one-size-fits-all diet for everyone. Your health, happiness, and wellbeing rely on discovering what works best and feels best for your individual body and your own bio-individuality. Along my journey I lost many pounds and discovered a way of eating that left me vibrant, satiated, and happy! These days, I love helping our clients reach their ideal weight, find balance in their lives, and feel confident about what to eat. And we get results.

My team and I work with individual clients, run group holistic health programs, and present lectures on various health and wellness topics throughout the country. I also love to get in front of the camera and talk about easy, simple, and fun ways to “renovate your health”!

I live in beautiful Park Slope, Brooklyn, with my husband, Matt, and our 3 nutty cats – Monty, Mabel, and Jalapeno! When I’m not counseling clients, I love to travel, bake up a batch of gluten-free treats, take early morning park jogs, and linger in one of the world’s great cafes with a good book or a good friend.
