Are you obsessed with food?

Hi and happy Feel-Good Monday!

This is where we share our favorite tips, tricks, secrets, and ways to "think like a healthy person" so that you can find your own delicious path to healthy living.

"Feel-Good Mondays" are meant to help us get back into that place of feeling energized, nourished, and ready to take inspired action for the week ahead.

I recently had a consultation with a potential client, "Kelly". After YEARS of dieting, struggling with her food choices, and feeling like she couldn't get off the emotional eating rollercoaster, Kelly said to me (half-jokingly, but also quite serious),"Andrea…if you can just get me not to be obsessed with food all the time, I'll pay you anything!"

I took a moment to pause and think about this before admitting to Kelly that I couldn't promise that, because I myself am obsessed with food!

So while I couldn't guarantee that Kelly wouldn't be thinking about food a lot, what I explained was this: That we would transform her relationship with food, so that what felt like an unhealthy obsession could be morphed into one where she enjoyed her food even more than she had been, where she didn't feel controlled by her food choices (or out of control with what she was eating), and where she would gradually feel really excited and ready to make loving, nourishing food choices for herself — without force, or restriction.

Kelly signed up for her program on the spot. This is what she wanted, and what I think we all want: To make healthy choices for herself with ease, with pleasure, and with fun. To find a way of feeding herself that is sustainable, that doesn't feel like a constant struggle, and that gets her the results she wants (in her case, she was looking to reach her ideal weight and get rid of life-long digestive issues).

I used to feel "obsessed" with food, just like Kelly, and it didn't feel very good. I would go from one diet to the next, constantly searching for the holy grail of eating plans — only to feel like I failed every time "normal life" kicked in and I lost motivation. Sound familiar?

It wasn't until I changed my relationship with food, and how I wanted to truly nourish my body (on a deep level) that everything just shifted.

These days, I totally admit to being obsessed with food — I mean, come on! I built my entire practice around food coaching! 😉 But what once felt like an unhealthy obsession now feels fun, exciting, and fulfilling. I get excited over new healthy snacks to try. I rejoice when the new season's veggies and fruits pop up at the farmers market. I delight over healthy home-cooked meals and the healthy desserts I make to go along with them!

At Moss Wellness, we love to help our clients channel that "obsession" into something that feels so much better — and healthier — than ever before. Being healthy doesn't have to feel like a constant struggle. Join us to learn how to transform your relationship with food and eating into one that feels deeply nourishing, delicious, and actually FUN!
