Hi there, and happy Feel-Good Monday!
This is where we share our favorite tips, tricks, secrets, and ways to "think like a healthy person" so that you can find your own delicious path to healthy living.
"Feel-Good Mondays" are meant to help us get back into that place of feeling energized, nourished, and ready to take inspired action for the week ahead.
You hear me talk a lot about "feeling good every day" (as in, you – yes, YOU! – can truly feel good. Every darn day.).
And I want to address what you might possibly be thinking: That I am just plain crazy. That the idea of feeling good – each and every day – is the talk of a lunatic, or someone living in their own dream world. (I know you might be thinking this, because I used to think this for a long time, too.)
But what I want you to know is this: No matter where you are now, and no matter what you've struggled with in the past, it truly is possible to feel good. And yes, it's even possible to feel good EVERY day!
With the right tools, with the right support, and — most importantly — with the right mindset — you can find peace, joy, confidence, comfort, inspiration, and happiness in each day.
I am not talking about burying your head in the sand, and I am certainly not promising days without stress, anxiety, confusion, or occasional overwhelm. We've all been there. But what I am talking about is catching glimmers (and eventually big chunks of time) in each day where you truly feel good.
Feeling good each and every day doesn't require a ton of work, and in fact, I would say that incorporating some of these 10-minute tools into your day will actually help things feel a lot easier, less stressful, and bring more calm into your day.
Can you commit to trying one of these 10-minute exercises today? What about tomorrow? Try a couple of these 10-minute tools out for the next week and notice the difference in your energy levels, your mood, and your confidence. It's worth a shot, yeah?
Breathe. It's free, life-sustaining, and incredibly effective at helping you feel good! We usually take breathing for granted and most of us (myself included) can often forget to focus on our breath. Taking intentional time each day to slow down, to focus on each breath coming in and flowing out, and to use that focus on our breath to come into the present moment is an amazing way to lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and get out of our heads!
Move. Yep, just 10 minutes of movement per day has been shown to significantly improve heart health, according to a study by the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. What's more is that those "10 minutes" per day were spent walking! You don't need to go at it super hard to get the benefits of exercise. Simply move it when you can, how you can, and aim for at least 10 lovely minutes per day for the best results.
Nourish. Surprised to hear me say that eating in a healthy, balanced way helps you feel good? Probably not 😉 But you don't have to spend hours each day to reap the benefits of a healthy diet. Scramble 2 eggs and eat with 1/2 of an avocado for a balanced breakfast. Throw some bagged organic greens into a bowl with some canned wild salmon for a healthy lunch. Snack on a handful of nuts. Sauté chopped broccoli with some ground turkey for a healthy, delicious dinner in about 8 minutes. I know from personal experience (and from the countless stories from our many clients over the years) that spending just 10 minutes per day prepping your food can make all the difference in the world when it comes to feeling good.
Be grateful. Grateful people are healthy people! Research shows again and again that when you experience gratitude on a regular basis, you're happier, healthier, and just feel better. Check out my article on gratitude and health for more ways to bring gratitude into your life.
Be joyful. This is a simple one: Do something every day that brings you joy. For me, just 10 minutes in the garden every morning, cup of hot matcha tea at my side, kitties playing at my feet brings me pure, blissful joy that I carry into the rest of the day with me. And I feel much better as a result. What can you do for a few minutes each day that brings you pure delight?
Play. Have fun. Laugh. Play on the floor with dogs, cats, or children. Be silly. Spending a few minutes each day "playing" can be one of the best things you can do for your health — for real!
What can you do today, for 10 minutes, so that you can feel good? Let me know about it! I'd love to hear from you on our FB page.
You can feel good every day. And we are here to support you.
