Success Stories

I came to Andrea because I was suffering from a list of issues which included: O.C.D., depression, addiction to ADD medication, anorexia, and paralleling anxiety issues. Through our work together, I was able to get off my medication, dramatically change my diet, I experience less anxiety, and I am not afraid of food anymore! I loved that Andrea would summarize my goals at each session, because I tend to talk a mile a minute — leading me to forget what I was getting at in the first place. Andrea introduced delicious, nutritious foods into my diet. I developed a love for food and don’t feel overwhelmed when I walk in the produce aisle anymore. And I learned to live large — because playing small doesn’t benefit anyone. Andrea’s enduring faith in my success really made my wonderful new life possible. I cannot thank her enough.

— Joe B., Producer/Performer/Holistic Health Counselor, Brooklyn, NY

I came to Andrea with not perfect, but already healthy eating habits to address the changing needs of my 47 year old body. My main need was to equalize and maintain my energy level throughout the day, discover and incorporate new foods to keep my interest and to lose or maintain my weight. I was open to making adjustments and trying new things to accomplish those goals. In the course of my work with Andrea, I really opened up to cooking my own food, which I did very little of prior and really discovered food in an entirely new way. I went from fearing grains (because they contain carbohydrates, which was a no-no) to including them in my daily diet, I eliminated Splenda, I eat more seasonally and creatively, I tried a cleanse and reduced my coffee consumption. I have a much better understanding of food and how it supports my body and its changing needs. Andrea is a great listener – she listened to what I wanted and adjusted my consultations around my goals. Andrea knows her food and shares her passion for it as you work with her and a lot of that passion rubs off!

— Arleen T., Paralegal, New York, NY

I chose Andrea as a coach because we had similar past experiences of leaving the corporate world to pursue a passion for health and wellness. I wanted to address eating healthy and getting the right nutrients. When we first started working together, I was afraid of the kitchen! I cook now, and often! Andrea also helped me prioritize my time and get things done. Thank you so much for our time together!

— Stephanie O., Pilates Instructor, Brooklyn, NY

I wanted to work with Andrea because the background in her bio seemed similar to mine, specifically in terms of her career change and past weight issues. Both of these topics were areas I thought she could help me address during our counseling sessions. I really enjoyed Andrea’s warm and kind personality. And of course the sessions themselves have been great! Andrea is very knowledgeable and insightful and has helped me think through some big issues. We discussed some useful nutrition information that I’ve brought into my daily diet, and probably most useful is the discussions about ‘primary foods.’ I couldn’t have made a better choice in choosing a nutrition coach!

— Pam F., Lawyer/Marketing Executive, New York, NY

I choose to work with Andrea because I felt an alignment with her description of her weight challenges with my own struggle with weight. My challenges were around learning to take responsibility for food decisions and being an active participant throughout the process of planning, selecting, and preparing my foods. I really appreciated how well Andrea listened and was able to reflect key issues I was expressing. While working together, I learned at a new level how my “holding onto” my weight can be connected to my needs outside of food. I also was finally able to make a decision to move to a location where I will be happier living, with more space and in the country. And I was also able to decide to change my job level so that I can better balance my life. Andrea’s calm, accepting, and open approach was a very good fit for me. Our conversations helped me explore some large issues. I thought the conversations would be more about “food,” but learned that the primary issues need to be really named and then addressed right along side the learning about nutritional food needs. Thank you, Andrea, for support on this part of my journey!

— Joan D., Public Health Nurse Manager,Toronto, Ontario, Canada

As a direct result of time spent with Andrea Moss, I have changed my eating and grocery shopping habits dramatically! Andrea offers yummy suggestions for alternatives to the unhealthy snacks I crave. Andrea’s desire to help people to be healthy and to feel good is evident in her everyday life. Hands down she is a great resource for healthy living!!

— Deb B., Television Editor, Baldwin, NY

Andrea, I listened to you and followed my own wisdom. My cholesterol was 385 and it’s now 170, I lost 12 pounds and all other blood work was great. I’m walking, eating fiber, and most of my food is good stuff. I was a size 14 and I’m now 8/10 in pants, down from a 1x woman blouse to a large reg. I am so happy. Thank you for your help!

— Patricia G., Teacher, Palm Beach, FL

Becoming pregnant so quickly is the BEST result I’ve seen since starting my program with Andrea. I definitely think it has to do with healthier food choices and the vitamins Andrea recommended. I’ve learned how different eating habits can affect my mood. I’ve also learned to make better food choices and to eat what I like but in a healthier way. Andrea is extremely informative and knowledgeable, but best of all very easy to talk to. I feel so relaxed and comfortable when I meet with her. She has a very calming way about her!

— Jessica Z., Product Development, New York, NY

Since starting Andrea’s program, my energy levels have improved, I’ve slept more regular hours for chunks of time, I’ve discovered new foods to eat and cook and new ways to prepare old ones. I’ve felt like I’m doing good things for myself. Andrea is very good, very high energy, full of exciting ideas, quite empathetic, and a very good listener.

— Rebekah W., Urban Farmer, New York, NY

I joined Andrea’s program  because I had to lose weight and I wanted to get control over my hormonal eating. I had tried Weight Watchers in the past and it didn’t work – as soon as I stopped counting points, I not only gained back the weight I lost but put on even more! I used to think it was just easier to eat the packaged Weight Watchers foods than do another program or plan, but I didn’t understand that the real problem was about finding balance in my life. While working with Andrea, I not only lost weight and lowered my cholesterol but also got a handle on my severe hormonal cravings that had bothered me my whole life. I loved that Andrea created a personalized program just for me. She addressed my main problems first – hormonal eating – and then gave me the options to help keep my body in balance permanently, without just covering up the problem. Andrea was very encouraging, never judging. I’m happy to say that the changes I made in her program are life-long and I’m a healthier person because of them.

— Dainna L., Child-Care Worker and Mother of 3 Very Picky Eaters, Hopewell Jct, NY

Andrea is very knowledgeable and thoughtful.  I appreciate her holistic approach, which is not based on deprivation or strict rules.  I always considered myself to be a healthy and sensible eater but I did not know my body as well as I thought I did.  Andrea helped me eat in a way that made me feel better and broke unhealthy eating habits (like sugar cravings and late night snacking).

— Shirin M., Attorney, New York, NY

Andrea has changed my life! I have been a client on and off for two years and I have a greater insight into just what a healthy lifestyle really is. Andrea is so knowledgeable, not just about diet and exercise, but human nature as well. Her thoughtful guidance, encouragement and plain old common sense has helped me make some life altering changes in my approach to choices I make for my well being.  I feel good about myself..thanks, Andrea!

— Janice M., Office Manager, Fishkill, NY

What impresses me most about Andrea is not her intelligence and vast knowledge about nutrition, but the way she relates to people: in a non-judgmental, take-you-as-you-are, manner that put me at ease immediately. While I had no intention of signing on as a client, after a few minutes with her, I knew that she was the right person to help me reach my weight and wellness goals (which she did)!  And Andrea did something that even my own mother couldn’t: she got me to cook meals for myself! Yes, I was someone who thought that a stove was there to store stuff that didn’t fit anywhere else! And if that wasn’t enough: Andrea also introduced me to foods that never entered my field of vision, let alone my tummy…things like tofu, kale, wheat berries — go know! Mikey likes ‘em! I cannot recommend Andrea highly enough. If you have issues with your weight, or want to feel better through proper nutrition, make an appointment to see Andrea. You won’t regret your decision!

— Ruth G., Personal Fitness Coach, New York, NY

I’ve been going to Moss Wellness since it started – it has completely changed my approach to eating, dieting and my general outlook on health. The reason being Andrea herself.  She’s extremely easy to talk to, intelligent and really listens to you and adapts her program to your needs.  She doesn’t push anything – she’s the first person I’ve encountered who doesn’t take things away from you (don’t eat this or that!) but rather adds in new things that are delicious and healthy.  What I love about it is it’s highly personal and targeted directly at your needs.  She’s open, has a great sense of humor (which is important with food!) and has opened me up to whole new way of thinking.  I’ve learned so much.

— Margaret T., Gardener, New York, NY

Andrea, I want to thank you for all your counsel and insight these past months. I have learned a lot about food, nutrition, the body, and myself. Your goal-based approach is right on, as is your great capacity to listen well. You are the only nutrition expert I will call.

— Kim J., Managing Director of Major Financial Institution, Chicago, IL

I’ve always had health problems, but they came to a head late last year with months of debilitating joint pain.  Doctors tested and couldn’t confirm Lupus, but kept referring me to new specialists. One suggested Rheumatoid Arthritis. I’m so grateful no one came to a diagnosis and got me on an unnecessary string of medication, because after editing my diet, I’m cured.

One day, Andrea suggested my joints might be affected by nightshades (the family of vegetables including eggplant, potato, and tomato) and though those vegetables happen to be some of my favorites, cutting them made the joint pain disappear. Difficult as it may be to do (at first) I can’t stress enough that incorporating Andrea’s dietary guidance into your life is essential if you want to see positive, measurable change.  What Andrea does is incredible because it has the power to be so transformative on a number of levels.  Since keeping my mind open to what might harm my body, I’ve also paid much more attention to the foods that help it, and I’ve found myself feeling more physically fit and mentally sharp than ever.

— Jessica W., Entrepreneur, Brooklyn, NY

Andrea, I want to say “Thanks” for all the help these past 6 months.  When I arrived to see my family last night, they all commented on how I looked.  They used words like ‘refreshed’ and ‘vibrant’ and ‘it’s like you’ve taken 6 years off your life’. Thank You!

— Chris K., Computer Engineer, Brooklyn, NY

I first met Andrea 10 months ago, back when I would have categorized myself as living a healthy lifestyle.  I sought out Andrea because I wanted to eat healthier foods, cook more at home without feeling stressed, and qualify for the Boston marathon by running the Chicago Marathon in 3 hours, 35 minutes.

From January to September, Andrea  . . .

  • taught me to love my greens (kale is a girl’s best friend),
  • opened my eyes to protein-rich breakfasts,
  • encouraged me to explore the world of raw chocolate,
  • changed my mindset to food as fuel,
  • showed me the power of chia seeds,
  • and much more than I could fit in this list.

While I was pursuing healthy eating options, cooking incredibly tasty, easy and healthy meals for myself, Andrea also encouraged my pursuit of my marathon goal.  She was my most enthusiastic cheerleader!  I am proud to say that after four years of trying to qualify for the Boston Marathon, I finally met my goal on October 7th, 2012.  I went from a 3:53 marathon to a 3:28!  This could not have happened without the support and care that Andrea continually gave.  Thank you Andrea!

— Anna T., Dean of School Culture, Brooklyn, NY

Andrea Moss completely transformed my life! A year ago I was curled up on the ground in the medical tent at mile 14 of a marathon in Indiana. Begging for a hysterectomy. For the 18 months prior to that moment I had been slowly gaining weight and dealing with mounting health issues. I had turned 40 and my thyroid had given out. And while I have a great doctor who helped me figure out the thyroid issue, we couldn’t figure out why I still felt so crappy and continued to gain weight.

I started to believe that this was just how it was going to be. After trying to monitor every calorie I ate and every mile I ran, I realized I was going to need help. Andrea had consulted with my running group for a few years, and I decided to finally meet with her one on one.

Within the first 4-6 weeks, she helped me deduce that I could no longer tolerate soy and gluten. And then we worked on finding new foods for me to eat and new ways to eat the foods I loved. In the months that followed I dropped all the weight I had gained and learned to love vegetables. (a first for this vegetarian!)

But more importantly, I now feel so much better. I can do so much more. All the health issues I was having have been resolved. In fact, I just ran a half marathon 5 min faster then ever and next week I will be back running a marathon. And this time I will not be stopping for anything. Andrea is great at working with each client individually. She doesn’t approach issues with blanket solutions. Rather she learned about me, my needs, my goals and then step by step, week by week, we made progress. It was never difficult or overwhelming. And it has been so amazingly worth while.

— Lisa M., Art Director, (and multi-marathon runner), Brooklyn, NY

I’ve been a client of Moss Wellness for about 4 months and I only wish I had found this information earlier in my life and when my kids were little. It has been a total mind & body makeover…but in a gentle way, not drastic. It is about adding things to your life, not about taking away, not about deprivation. It is hard to put it into words but I feel that I am going to live many extra years with this new knowledge. Ms. Moss is a gem, she is easy to work with, very compassionate, never judging. She helps you set goals not only with diet and weight but with life goals as well. I think of her as a life coach with a food and love element attached! If you sign up for the program, I promise you are in for a wonderful ride!

— Nancy T., Jewelry Designer, Princeton, NJ

Andrea Moss has changed my life on a multi-faceted level. Unlike any “diet,” Andrea focuses on physical well-being as well as mental, emotional, and spiritual balance (all important for maintaining optimal, overall health). While working with Andrea over a 6-month period, I lost over 40 lbs and learned so much about myself. Andrea equipped me with the tools and guidelines to use throughout the rest of my life for a lifetime of health and happiness. I feel better than I ever have before, with more energy and vitality, and I owe it all to the teachings of Andrea Moss.   P.S. – Thank  you so much Andrea!
