Today I felt inspired to share a couple of things that have been delighting me lately! (Fun way to kick off a Monday, right?)
It's the simple things in life that can often bring the most pleasure. And these foods, which I've encountered through my travels around town lately, have brought a huge smile to my face – and belly – each time.
They score high on the health charts, they taste fantastic, and each one brings its own sense of fun, novelty, and – hopefully – staying power, too.
1) Health Warrior Organic Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Seed Bars.
I am always on the lookout for high-quality food bars. Most of the stuff on the market is filled with simple carbohydrates and lots of sugar, and it can be hard to find a healthy food bar that isn’t really junk food in disguise. I recently discovered these bars and am loving them! They’re slightly sweetened with wild flower honey (and nothing else!) and have real, high-quality ingredients that really satisfy my chewy, chocolate-y cravings. Pumpkin seeds are high in zinc and magnesium, two minerals most of us could use more of (zinc boosts the immune system and boosts libido, and magnesium is the “relaxation mineral” that helps with everything from improved sleep to constipation to muscle spasms). These bars are the perfect pre or post-workout snack and I can tell you that they’re also toddler-approved 😉. (My two-year-old is constantly trying to steal bites!)
2) Healing Home Foods Graham Bites.
OK, maybe my toddler has been having a lot of influence on my food choices lately, it’s been really fun to discover a healthy version of this childhood favorite! I really dig these cookies because they’re made with real ingredients that are healthy, filling, crunchy, and super tasty. A little goes a long way, too – I usually feel satisfied after about two of these guys. And they travel really well, making them the perfect airplane or car-trip snack.
3) Veggie Go’s Fruit Strips.
I’ve mentioned these fruit leathers before but I can’t stop talking about them because they’re that good! These strips are made with fruits and veggies and THAT’S IT. They’re also super thin and light, making it a super easy purse or backpack snack to tote around. I’ll leave it at that. Just got try them and see for yourself! (The Berry, Apple + Spinach flavor is the best one!)
