Hi and happy Feel-Good Monday! This is where we share our favorite tips, tricks, secrets, and ways to "think like a healthy person" so that you can find your own delicious path to healthy living. "Feel-Good Mondays" are meant to help us get back into that place of feeling energized, nourished, and ready to take inspired action for the week ahead. I know there were some health-nut families that existed back in the 80’s, but I certainly didn’t live in one of those households!
Nope. We went ALL OUT with the candy at Halloween. We filled a giant metal bowl (a vat?) with our favorite stuff: mini Butterfingers, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Snickers, and M&M’s. Some of it went to the few neighbors that actually trick-or-treated at our door. Most of it went into our bellies. I cringe when I think back to just how much candy I wolfed down each Halloween (in the days before, the day-of, and in the days/weeks after). And while I LOVED it at the time, I can also remember the nasty mood swings that followed (sorry Mom…). Luckily, there is healthier candy (that’s still totally delicious – I SWEAR!) available these days. You might not be able to control every piece of candy that lands in your little one’s trick-or-treat bag (or in the office candy bowl), but you can definitely make healthier choices with what you keep in your home or hand out at your door. Here’s my favorite round-up of wellness-pros’ Halloween posts to help you navigate a healthier Halloween! I promise these articles won’t disappoint, and you’ll get some fantastic tips (like the Unreal Chocolate suggestion by Food Babe – it’s out of this world!) Luckily, Rye is still too young to feel like he’s missing out on trick-or-treating so it’s still easy for us to navigate. I suspect that by next year (when he’ll be close to 2 ½), we’ll have our work cut out for us! Happy, healthy Halloween! With love,
